28-Year-Old Mother Missing in Virginia

A 28-year-old mother, Mamta Kafle, has been missing for two weeks under circumstances that Virginia police describe as "involuntary." Kafle was last seen on July 31 in Manassas Park, approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C. Her husband reported her missing on August 5 after she had not contacted family or friends during that time. The Manassas Park Police Department has initiated an investigation, emphasizing the urgency of the situation due to the duration of her absence. Authorities have conducted extensive follow-ups with neighbors, friends, co-workers, and Kafle's husband as part of their investigation. Kafle, a registered nurse, was described by her friend and former colleague, Sunita Basnet Thapa, as someone who would not abandon her daughter under any circumstances. Thapa expressed her concern, stating that they have "no clue what is going on" and have been anxiously awaiting news for the past two weeks. Police Chief Mario Lugo confirmed that Kafle was entered into a law enforcement database immediately after her husband reported her missing, and detectives began their investigation right away. Kafle's husband addressed a gathering of supporters via phone, expressing his determination to find her and calling on the community and police for assistance. Kafle is described as 5 feet tall, weighing 132 pounds, with black hair and dark brown eyes.
