Huawei and JA Solar team up with UNESCO to reshape education in Thailand

In Thailand, a significant educational initiative has been established, aimed at promoting sustainability and digital skills among youth. The Green Education Project was officially launched on December 3, 2024, in Nakhon Nayok, by key organizations including Huawei, JA Solar, UNESCO, and the Ministry of Education. This initiative targets 11 schools and community hubs, providing them with clean energy solutions and training in Information and Communications Technology skills. The launch was marked by the installation of a solar-powered rooftop at the Banna District Learning Encouragement Center, which serves as one of the project's initial beneficiaries. The driving force behind this initiative is Huawei's TECH4ALL strategy, which emphasizes long-term investments in youth and educational equality. By merging renewable energy with practical education, the program intends to create a paradigm for sustainable development and inclusivity in Thailand. The project exhibits a commitment to addressing the pressing challenges in both energy supply and educational resources, particularly in underserved or rural areas of the country. As the project unfolds, the focus will be on three main areas: Green Schools for Secondary Education, Green Schools for Vocational Education, and Green Communities. The secondary education sector will benefit from solar installations and related training, while vocational institutions will empower students through hands-on experiences with photovoltaic systems, setting them on paths toward careers in renewable energy. Additionally, public libraries and learning centers will be equipped with renewable energy solutions and mobile digital education programs, including training on green energy and cybersecurity via Huawei's Digital Bus. Members from local schools, like Tisakorn Klinbooppha, Director of the Banna District Learning Encouragement Center, have expressed positive responses to the project, recognizing its potential to equip students with valuable skills that will offer them a competitive advantage in their future careers. As part of JA Solar's involvement, the initiative seeks to support Thailand's transition towards renewable energy while also empowering local communities with sustainable practices. The project signifies a collaborative effort to boost educational quality and energy accessibility in a country poised for future growth.
