Walt Disney World's Grizzly Hall in Frontierland has officially reopened, promising visitors "a foot stompin' good time." However, the beloved animatronic bear, previously known as Liver Lips McGrowl for over five decades, has been renamed Romeo McGrowl. This change comes in response to concerns that the original name is considered offensive, as noted by the Oxford English Dictionary, which links the term to alcohol abuse and its associated liver damage. The term "Liver Lips" has also been identified as a racial slur historically used to demean African Americans, further prompting Disney to make the name change. McGrowl is one of 18 animatronic bears featured in the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, a staple attraction at Magic Kingdom that has entertained guests since its opening in 1971. The attraction had been closed for refurbishment since January. Disney's blog describes the revamped show as a vibrant experience, featuring the bears in new outfits adorned with fringe jackets, floral patterns, and rhinestones. The performance promises a lively mix of rockabilly, bluegrass, pop country, and Americana renditions of popular Disney songs, lasting approximately 10 minutes. The reopening of the Country Bear Jamboree has generated excitement among fans, eager to see the beloved characters return to the stage.
