Despite these calls for peace, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated Israel's commitment to controlling the Philadelphi Corridor to prevent Hamas from rearming, which he argues is essential to avoid a repeat of the October 7 atrocities. The situation on the ground remains dire, with Palestinian health officials reporting that Israeli airstrikes have resulted in at least 16 fatalities in the Gaza Strip. The United Nations has raised alarms regarding the humanitarian crisis, stating that 90% of Gaza's residents have been displaced due to Israeli evacuation orders.
