JetZero to create over 14,500 jobs with new manufacturing plant in North Carolina

In a significant announcement, JetZero Inc., a California-based aerospace company, revealed its plans to build its inaugural manufacturing plant for the Z4 next-generation passenger jet in central North Carolina. The announcement, made at Piedmont Triad International Airport, stated that this venture could create more than 14,500 jobs over the next decade, specifically between 2027 and 2036, marking the largest job commitment in North Carolina's history according to state officials. The Z4 aircraft, recognized for being 50% more fuel-efficient than traditional airliners, represents a major advancement in aviation technology. JetZero has already secured approximately $300 million in investments for the Z4 project, which includes funds from the U.S. Air Force for the development of a demonstrator model by 2027. United Airlines and Alaska Airlines are also investors, having made conditional purchase agreements for future fleet enhancements. The company envisions the Z4 entering commercial service in the early 2030s, targeting the production of 20 planes a month once full production begins. North Carolina's aerospace industry, along with its historical significance in aviation—being the site of the Wright brothers' first powered flight—contributed to JetZero's choice of location. As part of the project, JetZero plans to establish a research facility dedicated to composite structures. The potential state and local incentives, which could exceed $2.3 billion over the long term, aim to bolster infrastructure and workforce training to support this massive endeavor that promises to pave the way for a new chapter in American aerospace. The job positions created would offer average salaries exceeding $89,000, which reflects North Carolina's commitment to advancing its high-tech manufacturing sector.
