Story

The Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival is set to take place this weekend in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, showcasing a diverse lineup of headliners including alternative rock band The Killers, pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter, country artist Sturgill Simpson, and rapper Post Malone, who will perform a unique country set. This marks the 16th edition of the festival, which kicks off on Friday with The Killers taking the main stage. Originally, Tyler, the Creator was slated to headline but withdrew from the event earlier this year. Sturgill Simpson, known for his innovative blend of traditional outlaw country and psychedelia, gained acclaim with his 2014 album *Metamodern Sounds in Country Music*. His subsequent works have ranged from the Grammy-nominated *A Sailor's Guide To Earth* to the alternative rock-inspired *Sound & Fury*. Simpson's recent plans to tour with Willie Nelson were derailed due to vocal cord damage, but he remains a key figure in the festival lineup. In addition to the music, Outside Lands will feature a variety of attractions, including a 21-and-over area that debuted in 2018, offering daily DJ sets. A new highlight this year is the wedding venue, City Hall in McLaren Pass, allowing attendees to marry or renew vows, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the first same-sex marriage ceremonies in the U.S. at San Francisco's City Hall.
