Cruz slams Harris on border crisis

During an appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime, Senator Ted Cruz expressed his concerns regarding the Democratic National Convention's failure to feature speeches from families affected by crime linked to the ongoing border crisis. Cruz, responding to Watters' comment about the Democrats being the "party of the people," asserted that the party has shifted focus to special interests and power dynamics. Cruz highlighted a recent event where former President Donald Trump visited the U.S.-Mexico border, accompanied by families of victims of violent crimes allegedly committed by illegal immigrants. He emphasized the daily toll of violence, stating, “Every damn day another American is murdered, another woman is raped, another child is brutalized by illegal immigrants that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have released.” Cruz criticized the Biden administration for its silence on the plight of these victims and their families. The senator referenced a House Judiciary Committee report indicating that the Biden-Harris administration has allowed over 5.3 million illegal immigrants into the U.S., with an additional nearly 2 million apprehended while attempting to cross the border. Since February 2021, the total encounters at the U.S. borders have exceeded 10 million, marking a significant increase compared to previous administrations. Cruz's remarks underscore a growing concern among Republicans regarding border security and the impact of immigration policies on American communities, particularly in light of rising crime rates associated with illegal immigration.
