A Brooklyn man, Kevindale Nurse, has been charged with federal arson offenses following a disturbing road rage incident on January 31. According to the U.S. Justice Department, Nurse, 36, was driving a minibus with his 4-year-old son when he allegedly engaged in reckless driving, cutting off a Verizon utility van. The situation escalated when Nurse reportedly threw an explosive device into the van, resulting in an explosion that injured two repairmen working on high-speed data lines. The indictment, unsealed on Thursday, details how Nurse opened the door of his vehicle and hurled the explosive through the driver's side window of the Verizon van. The blast caused significant damage to the vehicle and left the employees with multiple injuries. U.S. Attorney Breon Peace condemned the act, emphasizing the danger posed to the van's occupants and bystanders in a busy Brooklyn intersection. Nurse was arrested in New York City on Thursday and pleaded not guilty during his initial court appearance, where he was denied bail. If convicted, he faces a lengthy prison sentence ranging from seven to 40 years. NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban also spoke out against the incident, highlighting the unacceptable nature of using violence and intimidation in society. Nurse's court-appointed attorney, Jeff Dahlberg, declined to comment on the case at this time, as the legal proceedings continue.
