On September 10, 2024, FIDIC hosted a gala dinner in Geneva to announce the winners of its prestigious Project Awards, celebrating the achievements of consulting engineering firms and their clients worldwide. The event was part of the FIDIC Global Infrastructure Conference, attended by professionals from the engineering, construction, and infrastructure sectors. A total of 15 infrastructure projects from ten countries were recognized, showcasing the significant impact of these projects on social, economic, and environmental quality of life. The awards were categorized into Small, Small to Medium, Medium to Large, and Megaprojects, highlighting a diverse range of successful initiatives. Notable winners included the Viaduct Quanzhou Bay Sea-crossing Bridge in China, awarded Project of the Year for Medium to Large Projects, and the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade in Ireland, recognized for Small to Medium Projects. The event underscored the importance of engineering excellence in addressing global infrastructure challenges. Highly commended projects included the TSX Broadway and Palace Theatre Redevelopment in the USA and the Viaduct Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway in China, both in the Megaproject category. Other commendations recognized significant contributions from projects like the Boryeong Subsea Tunnel in Korea and the My Thuan 2 bridge in Vietnam, demonstrating the breadth of innovation and engineering skill present in the industry.
