Story

Cheltenham Borough Council has announced plans to enhance the town's electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure by installing three new charging hubs in partnership with The EV Network. This initiative will increase the total number of rapid charging bays in the area to 26, strategically located in key car parks to maximize accessibility for residents and visitors alike. The first two hubs will be situated at St James Street and Bath Terrace, each featuring ten rapid charging bays, while a third hub at Church Piece car park will offer six bays. These ultra-rapid chargers, capable of delivering a full charge in just 20 to 40 minutes, will operate at a power output of 300kW, significantly reducing wait times for EV users. A spokesperson for the council emphasized that this project is part of a broader vision for a cleaner and more environmentally friendly Cheltenham. The installation of these charging hubs is expected to support the growing demand for electric vehicles and promote sustainable transportation options within the community. The new charging facilities are set to be operational by the end of November, with plans for additional bays in other car parks around Cheltenham to follow in the coming year. This development marks a significant step towards enhancing the town's EV infrastructure and supporting the transition to greener transportation solutions.
