Ethnicity Awards celebrate influential individuals in the UK

The 2024 Ethnicity Awards, in partnership with HSBC UK, are poised to honor the most influential figures from Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority backgrounds in the UK. This annual event recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to promoting diversity and inclusion. High-profile nominees this year include football legend Rio Ferdinand, musician Alesha Dixon, Love Island host Maya Jama, and pop star Zayn Malik, all of whom are celebrated for their impactful work. Among the nominees, Ferdinand stands out not only for his sports career but also for his leadership in a social mobility charity aimed at supporting young people from diverse backgrounds. He is joined by fellow athletes Denise Lewis and Tyrone Mings, as well as musicians Raye, Gabrielle, and Emeli Sande. The Broadcaster or Journalist of the Year category features notable figures such as Alison Hammond and Charlene White, while Edward Enniful, former editor of British Vogue, is recognized for his advocacy for equality. The awards will also spotlight businesses and brands that champion diversity, with Tesco, KPMG, Channel 4, and Network Rail among the shortlisted organizations. Charitable groups like Purple Rain Collective and Black Minds Matter UK are also in contention for accolades. The Outstanding Employer award will utilize the Investing in Ethnicity Maturity Matrix to assess organizations' progress in fostering ethnic diversity and inclusivity in the workplace. The event, scheduled for October 31 in London, continues to receive support from various partners, including Discovery and Lloyds Banking Group, highlighting the ongoing commitment to uplift Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority communities across the UK.
