Story

WENZHOU, Zhejiang - In a significant advancement for environmental sustainability, the State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company has pioneered the implementation of Automatic Generation Control (AGC) technology in Zhejiang Province. This innovative system enables precise online monitoring of carbon emissions, specifically targeting small thermal power plants with capacities below 100,000 kilowatts. The initiative is expected to reduce annual carbon emissions by over 5,000 tons, while also cutting production costs by more than 5%. The AGC system comprises several key components, including a flue gas collection device, transmission device, pretreatment device, gas analyzer, and a data acquisition and analysis module. Notably, the gas analyzer, which is domestically produced, boasts a rapid measurement response time of under 10 seconds and an impressive accuracy rate of ± 1%. This technology not only aids in carbon resource management but also positions power generation enterprises to engage in carbon trading markets effectively. Zhang Chunyi, Deputy General Manager of Yongjia Green Power Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., highlighted the impact of this technology on their operations. The company processes around 700 tons of household waste daily, generating approximately 23 tons of carbon dioxide. With the new system in place, they anticipate a reduction of over 13% in carbon dioxide emissions, translating to potential annual revenue of over 150,000 yuan from carbon emission rights in the trading market. As Wenzhou hosts the highest number of waste-to-energy plants in the province, its successful implementation of carbon detection and low-carbon scheduling serves as a model for other regions in Zhejiang and across the country.
