CHICAGO (CBS) – A violent shooting erupted in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on Tuesday night, resulting in one fatality and five injuries. Two assailants opened fire, targeting a group of men, with one victim, a 51-year-old man, sustaining a gunshot wound to the left foot and currently in fair condition at Stroger Hospital. A 44-year-old man was critically injured after being shot in the left leg and foot, while a 46-year-old man is also in fair condition after suffering a similar injury. Among the victims, a 39-year-old man was shot in the leg while driving by the scene and is reported to be in good condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The shooting left a significant number of shell casings scattered at the intersection, indicating the severity of the incident. The chaos unfolded near a taco truck that was operating at the corner when the gunfire erupted. Staff members, including Yolanda Torres, described the terrifying moments as they sought shelter inside the truck.
