In Spain, FC Barcelona is optimistic about returning to their iconic Camp Nou stadium by the end of 2023. The stadium is currently undergoing significant modernization and expansion, which began in June 2023. The club's spokesperson, Elena Fort, announced that the initial capacity upon their return will be 62,000, a reduction from the planned 105,000. This decision comes as the club navigates construction delays due to permit issues and complaints regarding working conditions. To ensure they have a venue for their matches, Barcelona has extended their contract to use the Montjuic Olympic Stadium until March 31, 2025. The full completion of the Camp Nou renovation, part of the larger 'Espai Barca' project, is expected by the summer of 2026, when the stadium's roof will also be installed. In the meantime, fans will soon have the opportunity to purchase a six-month partial season ticket for the latter part of the current campaign, allowing them to support their team during this transitional period.
