Cubic Defense delivers groundbreaking encrypted ACMI to U.S. Air Force

In a significant advancement for air combat training, Cubic Defense has announced the delivery of encrypted Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) systems intended for 4th generation aircraft used by the United States Air Force. This milestone was revealed on May 21, 2025, and it marks an essential shift in the way air combat training will be conducted, providing enhanced compatibility between 4th Gen and the more advanced 5th Gen aircraft. The integration of encryption technology is particularly critical in today’s operational environment where data security is paramount. The newly delivered System Security Upgrade (SSU) kits represent a leap forward in operational readiness and efficacy. By encrypting sensitive maneuvering data for the U.S. Air Force's P5 pod fleet, Cubic Defense has set a new standard for protecting classified information while also facilitating a much more efficient training process for air combat scenarios. Paul Averna, Vice President and General Manager of Advanced Training Solutions at Cubic Defense, noted that their dedicated team worked diligently to deliver these kits ahead of schedule, exceeding expectations and paving the way for future enhancements in military training technologies. This encrypted system allows for fully interoperable Time Space Position Information (TSPI) with the P5 Combat Training System (CTS), making it possible for the 4th generation platforms to engage in training exercises alongside their more advanced 5th generation counterparts.
