L3Harris delivers first OA-1K Skyraider II to special operations command

In the United States, U.S. Special Operations Command's first missionized aircraft, the OA-1K Skyraider II, was recently delivered by L3Harris Technologies. This aircraft is based on the Air Tractor AT-802, a craft primarily used for crop dusting. The program aims to adapt this versatile airframe for various mission types, including close air support and armed intelligence operations. Lt. Col. Bill Buice, a retired Air Force pilot, who was previously shot down during combat, commended the Skyraider II's capabilities, which reflect a modern solution to current military needs. The aircraft can carry up to a 6,000-pound payload and loiter for around 200 nautical miles, which enhances its operational flexibility.
