ANTIOCH, Ill. — Two men face multiple charges following a violent confrontation with security staff at a bar in unincorporated Antioch on Friday night. The Lake County Sheriff's Office reported that Ronald X. Owens, Jr., 37, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, among other firearm-related offenses, while 42-year-old Edwin Roddy was charged with battery. The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. when deputies responded to reports of a man with a gun at the bar located on West Grass Lake Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that Owens and Roddy had been ejected from the establishment earlier for disruptive behavior. After their removal, the pair allegedly returned to confront the security staff, with Owens brandishing a firearm. During the confrontation, Owens reportedly pointed the gun at the security personnel and attempted to fire it multiple times; however, the weapon malfunctioned, and no shots were discharged. Following this, the two men returned to their vehicle, where Owens allegedly stored the firearm before attempting to re-enter the bar. Roddy then assaulted a security guard by punching him. Law enforcement quickly apprehended both men. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office has filed a petition to detain Owens, who is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, while Roddy has been processed and released, with a court date set for September 4.
