Holder Faces Backlash Over Walz Vetting at DNC
- Former AG Eric Holder was questioned by a reporter at the Democratic National Convention.
- Reporter asked why Holder didn't properly vet VP candidate Gov. Tim Walz.
- Holder's response resulted in a tense exchange at the convention.
Former Attorney General Eric Holder found himself in a heated exchange with a reporter during the Democratic National Convention, following questions about his vetting process for vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota. The inquiry, posed by Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec, centered on Walz's controversial military record, which has come under scrutiny for inaccuracies. Holder's response included cursing at the reporter and walking away, despite attempts by security to manage the situation. Holder was responsible for the vetting of Walz after he was selected as the running mate for Kamala Harris, following pressure on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the race. The vetting process, which lasted 16 days, has since been criticized as Walz faces allegations of misrepresenting his military service. Notably, he claimed to have carried weapons in combat, despite never having been deployed to a war zone. The Harris-Walz campaign has had to address several of Walz's misleading statements, including his assertion of being a "retired command sergeant major," when he actually retired as a master sergeant. Additionally, Walz's claims of serving 25 years in the military were contradicted by records showing he served only 24 years. His retirement was also questioned, with some veterans suggesting it was to avoid deployment to Iraq. Further complicating matters, Walz's personal claims regarding his children's conception were also found to be inaccurate, as reports clarified that he used intrauterine insemination (IUI) rather than in vitro fertilization (IVF).
