Prior to his new role at UNLV, Mullen was the head coach at Florida from 2018 to 2021. During his four years there, he achieved a commendable overall record of 34 wins against 15 losses and managed to lead the Gators to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship Game and three New Year's Six bowl games. Earlier in his career, he spent nine years at Mississippi State, where he posted a record of 69 wins and 46 losses, further establishing his credentials within collegiate football. Mullen will be stepping into the coaching role previously held by Barry Odom, who left UNLV to take the head coach position at Purdue University on December 8.
