NCP MLA Sunil Tingre Questioned by Police in Porsche Case

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has come to the defense of NCP MLA Sunil Tingre, who was questioned by police for three to four hours following a tragic car accident in Pune that resulted in the death of two IT professionals. The incident, which occurred on May 19, involved a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old boy, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, and has sparked allegations that Tingre attempted to influence the investigation to protect the minor driver. Tingre, the MLA for Vadgaon Sheri, faced scrutiny for visiting the Yerwada police station shortly after the crash, leading to accusations of impropriety. However, Pawar emphasized that Tingre had no involvement in any post-accident cover-up and criticized those attempting to tarnish the reputations of public representatives from his party. "For no reasons, some people tried to link his name to the case," Pawar stated, asserting that it is a legislator's duty to respond to incidents in their constituency. In the wake of the accident, the district administration initiated a crackdown on local pubs, bars, and restaurants for violating building regulations, with Pawar insisting that illegal activities and encroachments would not be tolerated. He noted that stringent actions were taken against those involved, even affecting businesses that were compliant with regulations. Pawar reiterated the importance of adhering to government rules, underscoring the administration's commitment to maintaining order and accountability.
