Omar Apollo stars in sex scene with Daniel Craig in new film

Omar Apollo has disclosed that he shares a sex scene with Daniel Craig in the upcoming film 'Queer,' directed by Luca Guadagnino. The film, which is based on the 1985 novel by William S. Burroughs, is set to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival this week. In the film, Craig portrays the character William Lee, a surrogate for Burroughs, while Drew Starkey plays Eugene Allerton. Prior to filming, Apollo undertook a significant weight loss journey, dropping from 200 pounds to 181 pounds. He mentioned that although Guadagnino did not explicitly instruct him to lose weight, the prospect of filming an intimate scene with Craig motivated him to get in shape. Apollo was on tour with SZA during this time, which added to the challenge of preparing for the role. In a conversation with Starkey for Interview magazine, Apollo expressed his determination to meet the physical expectations of his character, particularly after reading that his character was described as having a flat stomach. Starkey, who has seen the film, praised the sex scene as “so good” and “very sensual,” indicating that it has been well-received. Guadagnino, known for his previous works such as 'Call Me by Your Name,' has a reputation for exploring complex relationships and identities in his films. His approach to casting emphasizes the fluidity of sexual identity, suggesting that an actor's personal life should not limit their ability to portray diverse characters authentically.
