Story

The 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,' initiated by the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, has received an unprecedented response from women across the state. Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam announced during a press conference at Balasaheb Bhavan that over 1.8 crore applications have been submitted within just 25 days of the registration opening, with expectations to reach two crore soon. Nirupam emphasized the significant role of the “Nari Shakti Doot” app in streamlining the application process. The app has been a hit, receiving between seven to eight lakh applications daily and achieving 88 lakh downloads to date. It ranks 27th among the most downloaded apps in India, with 800 downloads and 650 applications submitted every minute. Nirupam noted that the overwhelming support for this initiative is a clear indication of the trust women have in Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Currently, the government has recorded 1.3 crore online applications alongside five lakh offline submissions. The initiative aims to make between two crore to 2.5 crore women eligible for the benefits of the scheme, with applications open until August 31, 2024. To further promote the scheme, Shiv Sena plans to launch a campaign in Mumbai and surrounding areas starting August 2, 2024. Pune district leads in registrations, with 8,63,000 women having submitted their forms.
