Story

BALTIMORE – Authorities have apprehended a suspect in the double murder of 75-year-old Iona Sellers and her 29-year-old granddaughter, Autumn Harvey, who were found dead in Middle River on July 7. The Baltimore County Police Department reported that both victims suffered apparent blunt-force trauma to their upper bodies. The tragic incident occurred after Harvey had moved in with her grandmother following the death of her grandfather a few years prior. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Bryan Cherry, has a significant criminal history and was already incarcerated for a separate homicide case at the time of his arrest. Family member Devin expressed relief at the news of Cherry's charges, stating, "Ultimately, I'm so relieved and happy that we have a chance to get justice." The police were able to connect Cherry to the murders through DNA evidence, which matched him to the crime scene. Cherry is also linked to another homicide investigation in Baltimore City, where he was arrested on July 14 for the death of 38-year-old Sierra Johnson. Police allege that Cherry physically assaulted Johnson, leading to her death. He has been held without bond since his arrest in that case, and a bail hearing for the Middle River double murder is scheduled for Friday. In both cases, Cherry faces first-degree homicide charges, as law enforcement continues to seek justice for the victims and their families.
