Manchester City is on the verge of finalizing the acquisition of 19-year-old forward Divin Mubama, who recently departed West Ham United. The promising talent is expected to primarily train with City’s Under-21 squad, while also getting opportunities to train with Pep Guardiola’s first team. Mubama’s move comes after he left West Ham at the end of June when his contract expired. As Mubama is under 24 years old, discussions regarding a transfer fee are underway, as West Ham is entitled to compensation for the young player. The Athletic reported that Mubama had turned down contract offers from West Ham last season, citing frustration over limited first-team opportunities. He made a total of 12 appearances across all competitions last season, with only five in the Premier League. Mubama made his senior debut for West Ham in November 2022 and was part of the squad that clinched the 2023 Conference League title, contributing two appearances in the tournament. His impressive performances earned him the club’s young player of the year award for the 2022-23 season. Notably, he became West Ham’s youngest first-team scorer since 2008, netting a goal in March 2023 against AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League. With West Ham struggling to find form among their strikers, losing a talent like Mubama could prove detrimental to their future prospects.
