A Simi Valley resident has come forward to share his concerns following a pit bull attack that occurred last Thursday evening. The incident took place around 6:15 p.m. on Windmill Way, where a man was walking his leashed dog when an unrestrained pit bull escaped from a nearby yard and launched an attack. The aggressive dog bit both the owner and his pet during the chaotic scene. Simi Valley Police responded promptly, using a fire extinguisher to separate the two dogs, which caused the pit bull to flee the area. The dog's owner later managed to coax it back inside their home. Animal Control officers arrived shortly after to take custody of the pit bull, although the conditions of the injured man and his dog remain unclear. James Collis, a neighbor who captured the attack on his home surveillance camera, expressed his frustration with the city's handling of the situation. He stated that the community is in disbelief that the pit bull was not immediately removed from the home. "Our entire community is in awe because we figured that this dog would be taken away," Collis remarked, emphasizing the sense of insecurity felt by local residents. The incident has raised concerns about public safety and animal control measures in Simi Valley, as residents call for more decisive action to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
