Marshfield police are actively searching for 53-year-old Edmund David Lachance, a Level 3 sex offender who failed to register and allegedly followed a 17-year-old girl while she was jogging. The incident occurred Tuesday evening in the Humarock area, where Lachance reportedly offered the girl a ride. After she declined and attempted to escape, he followed her until she reached a friend's house, prompting her to contact authorities. Officer Camden Bruno emphasized the seriousness of Lachance's history, describing it as one of "predatory nature." The police are particularly concerned about his failure to register as required by law, which has led to a warrant for his arrest. Investigators tracked Lachance to a residence on Hawthorne Street in Scituate, where he was staying in a black Lincoln Zephyr. However, they lacked sufficient evidence to apprehend him at that time, allowing him to evade capture. Authorities are now on the lookout for Lachance's vehicle, which bears the Massachusetts license plate 4NWY15. In light of the incident, police are urging the community to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings. Officer Bruno commended the young girl for her quick thinking and decisive actions, encouraging others to follow her example in similar situations. Lachance is known to use aliases, adding to the urgency of the search as police work to ensure public safety.
