BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — Justin Allgaier secured his second NASCAR Xfinity Series victory of the year and the 25th of his career during an overtime finish at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday. The race, originally scheduled for 125 laps, was extended by three laps due to a late restart following a crash. The event faced interruptions from wet weather, which also led to the cancellation of qualifying for the Cup Series. Allgaier, driving the No. 7 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, showcased his skill by pulling away from the competition on the final restart. The race concluded dramatically when Kyle Sieg rolled over in a crash on the last lap, but he managed to exit the vehicle unscathed. Sheldon Creed, who started from the pole position, finished in second place, while John Hunter Nemechek, the previous year's winner at Michigan, took third. This victory adds to Allgaier's impressive season, having previously won at Darlington Raceway in May. With only five races remaining in the regular season, the competition intensifies as drivers aim to secure their spots in the upcoming playoffs, which are set to begin on September 28 at Kansas. The NASCAR Xfinity Series will continue its schedule with the next race taking place at Daytona on Friday night, promising more thrilling action for fans and competitors alike.
