Dozens dead after migrant boat sinks off Yemen

Yemen, a country grappling with civil war and poverty, recently witnessed a devastating tragedy when a boat carrying primarily Ethiopian migrants sank in the Gulf of Aden. The IOM has reported alarming figures of migrants who have died or gone missing while attempting this journey; last year alone recorded at least 558 deaths on the Red Sea route, with the majority resulting from accidents at sea. Yemeni security forces are actively working to recover bodies from the wreckage, signifying the urgency and tragedy intertwined with the migrants’ routes.
