Family Runs from Black Bear in Connecticut

A family in Simsbury, Connecticut, experienced a startling encounter with a black bear while enjoying time outside in their driveway. The incident, which was recorded by a security camera, shows Kristin Lee and her family, including her 9-year-old son and 2-year-old nephew, when the bear unexpectedly wandered into their yard. In the footage, Lee's son is the first to spot the bear, alerting the family by shouting, "Bear." The young nephew quickly follows suit, exclaiming, "Bear coming." The video captures the moment of surprise as the family reacts and runs away from the approaching animal. Fortunately, Lee reported that no one was harmed during the encounter, and the bear did not seem to show any interest in the humans present. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has noted a significant increase in the local black bear population, with sightings reported in 165 of the state's 169 cities and towns in 2023.
