Aussies need health pass for Bali amid mpox concerns

In response to the World Health Organization's declaration of mpox as a global health emergency, Indonesia has mandated that Australians traveling to Bali complete an electronic health declaration. This requirement comes amid a notable outbreak of mpox in Australia, with 383 cases reported as of September 2, 2024, primarily affecting New South Wales and Victoria. The Australian government has cautioned travelers that if they exhibit symptoms of mpox upon arrival, they may be directed to an Indonesian hospital for treatment. Vaccination efforts are being recommended for high-risk individuals, although no vaccine offers complete protection against mpox. As the situation evolves, UNICEF has initiated an emergency tender for mpox vaccine procurement, indicating a proactive approach to managing the outbreak.
