Girlfriend of Brittanee Drexel’s killer admits to lying to FBI

Angel Vause, the girlfriend of Raymond Moody, who was convicted of kidnapping and murdering Brittanee Drexel in Myrtle Beach in 2009, has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. In her statements to the FBI in 2022, Vause falsely claimed that Drexel had her cellphone and had joined them voluntarily to consume drugs. In reality, Vause had taken Drexel's phone and disposed of it while Drexel was abducted under false pretenses. The case surrounding Drexel's disappearance has been a long and painful journey for her family. Surveillance footage captured her leaving her hotel on April 25, 2009, to meet a friend, marking the last sighting of her before she was kidnapped. Moody later confessed to the heinous acts, admitting to being a monster at the time of the crime. Vause's guilty plea comes as part of a deal with federal prosecutors, and she faces a maximum of 15 years in prison for her three counts of making false statements. The admission has brought some sense of resolution to Drexel's family, who have been seeking justice for over a decade. Dawn Pleckan Conley, Drexel's mother, expressed relief that Vause would face consequences for her actions.
