Netflix has expanded its comedic offerings with the addition of "Brassic," a wild and wicked series created by actor Joe Gilgun and writer Danny Brocklehurst. Known for their previous collaborations on "This is England," "Preacher," and "Misfits," the duo has crafted a show that quickly became Sky One's biggest comedy hit since its debut in 2019. Set in a fictional northern town, "Brassic" follows the escapades of Vinnie O'Neill, played by Gilgun, and his group of friends as they navigate a life of petty crime, resonating with audiences through its cheeky title, which is Cockney rhyming slang for being broke. The series features a talented ensemble cast, including Damien Molony, Aaron Heffernan, Ryan Sampson, Joanna Higson, Parth Thakerar, and Dominic West. Currently, Netflix has seasons one to four available for streaming, with the fifth season on the way and a sixth already in production. Excitingly, the show's creators have announced that a seventh season has been greenlit, much to the delight of fans. Brocklehurst expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Brassic is a delight to make and it's a privilege to create more chaos for our loyal and loving audience." In addition to its success on Netflix, "Brassic" has garnered recognition at the upcoming National Television Awards, where it has been shortlisted in the Comedy category. Michelle Keegan, who stars in the series, is also nominated for her role in the Harlan Coben thriller "Fool Me Once," which is in contention for both New Drama and Drama Performance awards.
