Panathinaikos in Talks with Man Utd for Pellistri Deal
- Panathinaikos is in discussions with Manchester United regarding a deal for Facundo Pellistri.
- United prefers to sell Pellistri rather than loan him out and is looking for a fee around €10 million.
- Pellistri has one year left on his United contract and may potentially join Panathinaikos on a four-year deal.
Panathinaikos is currently engaged in discussions with Manchester United regarding a potential transfer of winger Facundo Pellistri. Reports indicate that an agreement in principle has been reached between the Greek club and Pellistri for a four-year contract. However, the deal remains unfinalized as several other clubs are also interested in acquiring the 22-year-old on loan. Manchester United prefers a permanent sale and is seeking a fee around €10 million for the Uruguayan international. Pellistri, who has one year left on his contract with United, along with an option for an additional year, previously spent the latter half of last season on loan at Granada. During his time in Spain, he scored two goals in 15 appearances but could not prevent the club's relegation from La Liga. A transfer to Panathinaikos would reunite him with compatriot Diego Alonso, who recently took over as head coach of the team. At Manchester United, Pellistri faces stiff competition for playing time, with notable players such as Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Jadon Sancho occupying the wide positions. In the 2023-24 season, he made 14 appearances for United but started only one Premier League match, which ended in a defeat to Crystal Palace. Since joining United from Penarol in 2020, Pellistri has featured in 24 first-team matches, including two previous loan spells in La Liga with Alaves.
