In Ireland on December 11, 2024, Trane Technologies announced its participation in the UN Global Compact's Forward Faster initiative. This initiative, which was launched to foster corporate sustainability, aims to assist businesses in aligning their operations with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. On November 28, the UN Global Compact launched its Country Network for Ireland, bringing together 150 senior leaders from various sectors to discuss sustainability challenges and strategies. As an early signatory of the UN Global Compact since December 2023, Trane Technologies reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by achieving validation for its emissions reduction goals by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company aims to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, emphasizing its intention to decarbonize urban environments through sustainable heating and cooling solutions. Jose La Loggia, Group President EMEA at Trane Technologies, spoke at the launch event, underscoring the importance of the Forward Faster initiative. He highlighted the company's long-standing dedication to sustainability, having set ambitious climate commitments as early as 2014 and further enhancing them in 2019. The initiative is positioned to serve as a catalyst for driving meaningful progress towards sustainability, encouraging other companies to adopt similar goals and engage in collaborative efforts. Nessa Whelan, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Ireland, praised Trane Technologies for its proactive stance, noting that their targets serve as a model for other corporate entities aiming for impactful sustainability measures. The collaboration reflects a broader movement advocating for urgent action from both businesses and governments to address climate change effectively, aiming to make substantial strides towards the SDGs before the 2030 deadline.
