STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - A 23-year-old man from Shelby Township was arrested on Tuesday following an attempted kidnapping of a 7-year-old girl at North Clinton River Park. The incident unfolded around 2:20 p.m. when police received reports of a disturbance, which included claims that a child may have been struck by a vehicle. Witnesses, including a member of the city's Citizens On Patrol, intervened during the altercation, successfully pulling the suspect from his car before police arrived on the scene. Upon their arrival, officers learned that the suspect had attempted to abduct the young girl, prompting immediate action. Authorities have not yet officially charged or arraigned the suspect, who is also wanted in connection with a separate kidnapping incident that occurred in Clinton Township on the same day. Clinton Township police are actively pursuing charges related to that case as well.
