Cabot Expands Golf Portfolio with Lofoten Links in Norway

Cabot has expanded its golf destination portfolio by investing in Lofoten Links, located in Norway, which is recognized as the world's northernmost links-style course. This investment marks the addition of a seventh property to the Cabot Collection, known for its luxury resort and residential golf destinations. The course, which began as a six-hole layout in 1997, expanded to 18 holes and opened in its current form in 2015, showcasing the stunning natural beauty of the Lofoten region. Ben Cowan-Dewar, CEO and co-founder of Cabot, expressed his admiration for the site, highlighting a photograph of Lofoten's par-3 second hole with the northern lights as the best golf photo he has ever seen. He emphasized the extraordinary nature of the destination and the potential to provide golfers with an unforgettable experience. The investment was initially discussed before the COVID-19 pandemic, which delayed the process. Unlike other properties in the Cabot portfolio, Lofoten Links will retain its original name and identity, with no significant changes planned. Cowan-Dewar indicated that the focus will be on enhancing the existing golf experience rather than rebranding. He drew parallels between Lofoten Links and Cabot's earlier projects, suggesting that the course could follow a similar path to Cabot Bordeaux, where existing facilities are refreshed. The future of Lofoten Links may include further developments, as Cowan-Dewar hinted at the possibility of additional courses in the area, inspired by the growth of Cabot's other properties. The aim is to create the best possible experience for golfers visiting this remarkable location.
