Packers acquire Malik Willis from Titans to support Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers have made a strategic move to enhance their quarterback depth by acquiring Malik Willis from the Tennessee Titans. This trade, which involved sending a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Titans, aims to provide support for starting quarterback Jordan Love. Willis, who was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has gained valuable experience over his first two seasons, having played in 11 games, including three starts during his rookie year. Despite his potential, Willis struggled with a 53.0% completion rate, totaling 350 passing yards without any touchdowns and three interceptions. He also contributed on the ground with 144 rushing yards and one touchdown. His performance led to a diminished role with the Titans, especially after the team selected Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, effectively sidelining Willis from their future plans. The Packers previously relied on second-year quarterbacks Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt, neither of whom had any NFL game experience. By bringing in Willis, the Packers not only bolster their quarterback room but also gain a player who has faced the challenges of the NFL, which could be beneficial for Love as he steps into a more prominent role.
