Aer Lingus Flight Diverts to France After Mid-Air Brawl

An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Mallorca was forced to make an emergency landing in Nantes, France, on Friday evening due to a violent altercation between a couple onboard. Flight EI738, which was approximately one hour into its journey, diverted after a heated dispute escalated into physical violence. Local police were waiting on the runway to apprehend the male passenger, who was arrested for domestic assault, while his wife sustained facial injuries and required medical attention. The incident, which occurred on July 26, delayed the flight for about two hours before it resumed its journey to Palma De Mallorca Airport. Eyewitness accounts and video footage shared on social media depicted the man being escorted off the plane to applause from fellow passengers, many of whom were reportedly members of the Majorcan Pontent de Palma rugby club returning from a training camp in Dublin. This incident is not isolated, as earlier in July, a Ryanair flight from Agadir to London also had to divert due to a violent brawl among passengers. The altercation erupted over seating arrangements, leading to a chaotic scene where multiple passengers were involved in physical confrontations. Moroccan police intervened upon the flight's landing in Marrakech, removing nine individuals linked to the disturbance. Aer Lingus has been contacted for further comments regarding the incident, which highlights ongoing concerns about passenger behavior during flights.
