Miami-Dade Psychologist Arrested for Child Porn

MIAMI - Robert Turner, a 62-year-old psychologist employed by Miami-Dade public schools, was arrested on Monday following allegations of child pornography. During a court hearing on Tuesday, his bond was set at $28,000, and he was prohibited from having any contact with children. Additionally, Turner is restricted from using the internet except for communication with his attorney. The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted Miami-Dade authorities about an individual uploading child sexual abuse material to an online platform, specifically Instagram. Following the tip, investigators discovered that Turner had allegedly shared two videos of child sexual abuse with over 50 users and possessed multiple other videos of similar content. When police attempted to arrest Turner at his residence, he reportedly barricaded himself in a bathroom, prompting the intervention of a Special Response Team to gain entry and take him into custody. During subsequent questioning, Turner acknowledged ownership of the Instagram account linked to the allegations. Turner faces serious charges, including five counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of promoting it. Upon posting bond, he will be placed under house arrest as the legal proceedings continue. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding the distribution of child sexual abuse material and the role of social media platforms in reporting such activities.
