Iran Promises Response to Killing of Hamas Leader

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened in Jeddah to address the situation, with members expressing concern that Haniyeh's killing could escalate regional conflict. Saudi Arabia condemned the act as a "blatant violation" of Iran's sovereignty, while U.S. officials have been actively engaging with OIC members to discourage any escalation from Iran. Diplomatic efforts are ongoing, with U.S. President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken communicating the need for restraint to both Iran and Israel. French President Emmanuel Macron also weighed in, warning Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that any escalation would jeopardize regional stability.
