The indictment further details that Flanagan not only misused funds but also allegedly went to extreme lengths to hide his actions. He created fake personas to mislead those who questioned his conduct. The Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance investigated his campaign activities, revealing the extent of his fraudulent claims, which included expenses for technology services that were actually used for personal items. As the case progresses, Governor Maura Healey has called for Flanagan's resignation, stating that he has betrayed his oath of office.
