Story

In the United Kingdom, Nissan has announced the introduction of three new all-electric vehicles to their lineup, scheduled to be launched in the next two years. The first of these vehicles, the new Micra, will make its debut this year. Designed at Nissan's London design center, the Micra features a style reminiscent of the popular Micra K11 model from the early 1990s and will be produced at a Renault factory in Douai, France. Sales for the Micra are expected to begin before the end of 2025, showcasing a significant development in Nissan's electric vehicle strategy. In addition to the Micra, the third generation of the Nissan Leaf is also set to be released this year. Built in Nissan's Sunderland factory, this new Leaf has undergone a design transformation into a crossover vehicle that aligns with the current Nissan design trends seen in other models such as the Ariya electric SUV. Sharing its CMF-EV platform with the Ariya and the Renault Scenic E-Tech, the new Leaf aims to provide improved range and efficiency, potentially matching the Scenic's performance with a streamlined and aerodynamic design. The third new all-electric model, the revamped Juke, is anticipated to enter production later, with sales beginning towards the end of 2026. With past models having been successful, the new Juke will also be produced in Sunderland and is expected to be larger, addressing previous customer complaints regarding rear legroom. Like the Leaf, it will utilize the CMF-EV platform. The introduction of these electric models signifies Nissan's commitment to enhancing its electric vehicle offerings. Looking ahead, there are plans for a fully electric version of the Nissan Qashqai, expected to follow the Leaf and Juke, projected to arrive no sooner than 2027. In the interim, Nissan's e-Power hybrid system for the Qashqai is receiving enhancements to improve emissions and efficiency, bringing it closer to an all-electric driving experience. This strategic development in Nissan's EV lineup highlights the company's focus on transitioning to more sustainable vehicle options as it continues to innovate and expand its market in electric mobility.
