In March 2024, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) initiated a significant campaign engaging stakeholders across nine countries. The effort aimed to enhance global participation in the upcoming 8th CIIE which is slated for November 2025 in Shanghai, China. The promotional initiatives specifically targeted countries such as Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Sweden, Italy, Malta, Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador. Each country contributed its unique perspective on expanding trade relations with China through the platform of the CIIE. In Southeast Asia, Laos identified the CIIE as a critical entry point to the global market, actively pursuing stronger economic ties with China. Vietnam, on the other hand, utilized the platform to showcase its high-quality local products, leading to successful commercial agreements with Chinese enterprises. Similarly, Thailand capitalized on the CIIE to highlight its specialty goods, thereby deepening its trade connections with China. Turning to Europe, the promotional delegation emphasized the CIIE as a catalyst for fostering cross-border collaborations. Since the inception of the CIIE in 2018, Italian businesses have played a prominent role in tapping into China's consumer market, particularly in the luxury and advanced manufacturing sectors. Malta has also seen considerable success by leveraging CIIE to promote Mediterranean specialties, capturing increased interest from Chinese consumers. In addition, Brazil, as a guest country of honor at the 7th CIIE, showcased the growing trade relations with China, featuring products like those from the Luckin Coffee brand. As free trade agreements continue to evolve, countries like Peru and Ecuador have experienced rising demand for their exports such as squid, avocados, and grapes. The engagement from over 240,000 square meters of booked exhibition space for the 8th CIIE highlights the event's expanding influence and illustrates its importance as a premier platform for international trade and investment.
