Igloo recalls over 1 million coolers after serious injuries reported

In the United States, more than 1 million Igloo coolers are under recall due to a significant safety hazard associated with the tow handle mechanism. This recall was initiated following reports of several injuries linked to the coolers, which include fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice highlighting that these incidents resulted from users’ fingers being pinched against the cooler when the handle was operated, posing serious and even life-altering risks. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers,' were sold between 2019 and January 2025 at major retailers including Costco, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Amazon. Approximately 1.06 million of these units were sold in the U.S., in addition to 47,000 units in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico. Consumers can identify the affected products by model number and the 'IGLOO' branding printed on the side, ensuring they are aware of the risks associated with these items to prevent further injuries. In light of the incidents, Igloo has advised anyone who purchased the affected coolers to stop using them immediately.
