Indian Army targets high-value terror camps in Operation Sindoor
- Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 6, targeting nine terror bases linked to the Pahalgam attack.
- Several domestic airlines canceled or delayed flights to and from Jammu and Kashmir and neighboring regions due to the operation.
- The Indian government confirmed the strikes were successful while ensuring that no civilian infrastructure in Pakistan was harmed.
In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, India launched a military operation known as Operation Sindoor on May 6, 2025. The operation focused on striking nine high-value terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, aiming to dismantle terrorist infrastructure connected to groups responsible for the attack. The operation was executed with precision, and the Indian government confirmed that no civilian or military infrastructure in Pakistan was affected. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior security officials closely monitored the execution throughout the night. The strikes were declared a significant measure against increasing terrorism, following the April 22 attack that killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army spokesperson stated that the operation was meticulously planned and intended to achieve a specific military objective without escalating tensions further. The Indian intelligence community had traced the Pahalgam attack to terror groups based in Pakistan, notably The Resistance Front, linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
