Juventus and Szczesny Part Ways Early
- Juventus and goalkeeper Szczesny mutually terminate contract a year early.
- Szczesny was in talks to move to Saudi club Al Nassr but negotiations failed over transfer fee.
- Juventus sign goalkeeper Di Gregorio on a loan deal with obligation to buy at the end of the season.
Juventus has officially announced the mutual termination of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny's contract, which was originally set to run until June 2025. The 34-year-old Polish international has been a key figure for the club since his arrival from Arsenal in 2017, making 252 first-team appearances and contributing to the team's success with eight trophies, including three Serie A titles. In a strategic move to bolster their squad, Juventus has secured goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio on a season-long loan from Monza, with an obligation to purchase the 27-year-old permanently at the end of the season. This decision comes after failed negotiations to transfer Szczesny to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr earlier this summer, primarily due to disagreements over the transfer fee. Szczesny's departure marks a significant shift for Juventus, as he becomes the tenth first-team player to leave the club this summer. Other notable exits include Adrien Rabiot, Alex Sandro, and Moise Kean, reflecting a broader restructuring within the squad. In response to these departures, Juventus has made four new signings, including Di Gregorio, as well as midfielders Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram, and left-back Juan Cabal. These additions aim to strengthen the team under the guidance of coach Thiago Motta as they prepare for the upcoming season.
