Story

On December 1, 2024, Canon Medical Systems, headquartered in Otawara-shi, Tochigi, Japan, showcased their advanced CT imaging technologies at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual congress. The company recently launched two CT systems – the Aquilion ONE / INSIGHT Edition and Aquilion Serve SP – which were revealed at the previous year's RSNA congress. The highlight of the 2024 event was the announcement that the Aquilion ONE / INSIGHT Edition received the prestigious Best New Radiology Device award at the annual Minnies Awards, an event that recognizes excellence and innovation in radiology. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of Canon's unique Deep Learning Reconstruction (DLR) technologies, which enhance both high resolution and low dose capabilities in CT imaging. The enhancements featured in the new systems utilize advanced technologies like the Precise IQ Engine (PIQE) and SilverBeam Filter. Initially focused on cardiac imaging, the PIQE Super Resolution feature is now being expanded to include applications for body and lung imaging, pending regulatory approval. These advancements reflect Canon's commitment to improving the quality of imaging for various medical applications, further exploring the utility of SilverBeam, which is designed to optimize X-ray energy for better lung cancer detection and other uses like musculoskeletal evaluations. Naoki Sugihara, Vice President and General Manager of the CT Systems Division at Canon Medical Systems, expressed pride in the recognition of the Aquilion ONE / INSIGHT Edition, emphasizing that it continues to push the boundaries in CT imaging technology with notable improvements in image quality and workflow efficiency. Canon Medical Systems also highlighted their focus on patient-centered care, aligning with their Made for Life philosophy while building collaborative relationships with medical, academic, and research partners. The impact of these advanced CT imaging technologies on diagnostic effectiveness and patient safety is expected to be significant, as the company continues to lead innovations in the field of radiology.
