A Detroit physician, Stephen Bruce Mason, 54, faces serious allegations after reportedly exposing himself to a 76-year-old woman who rejected his sexual advances. The incident occurred on August 1, when Mason, who had befriended the victim online, offered her a ride home from a hair appointment. After dropping her off, he was invited inside her Sterling Heights residence, where he allegedly made unwanted sexual advances, which the woman promptly declined. Following her rejections, Mason is accused of masturbating in front of the elderly woman, prompting a swift response from the Macomb County prosecutor's office. The prosecutor emphasized the commitment to impartial justice, stating that the legal system does not favor any profession or social standing when it comes to accountability for misconduct. Mason's history is marred by multiple legal issues, including previous accusations of sexual misconduct across several states. His medical license in Indiana was revoked in 2005 after an investigation revealed inappropriate sexual contact with patients and alcohol abuse while treating them. After relocating to Wisconsin, he practiced under a limited license that mandated participation in a sexual addiction treatment program and regular screenings for drugs and alcohol. In 2011, Mason moved to Michigan, where he was involved in a fraudulent billing scheme with two other doctors, leading to a felony conviction for health care fraud in 2017. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined $50,000 by the state medical board, further complicating his already troubled medical career.
