Story

Eldora Mountain Resort, a prominent ski area in Boulder County, Colorado, has been officially listed for sale by its owner, Powdr. The announcement was made on Thursday, coinciding with Powdr's decision to sell two other resorts in Vermont and put two additional ski areas on the market. Despite the sale, the resort reassured Ikon Pass holders that their access to Eldora will remain unchanged for the upcoming ski season, which is set to commence on November 15. Covering 680 acres, Eldora celebrated its 60th season last year and has been a staple in the Colorado ski community. This season, the resort is set to unveil a new 12,000-square-foot facility, the Caribou Lodge, which will serve as a hub for Ignite Adaptive Sports and the resort's ski school. This expansion reflects Eldora's commitment to enhancing the skiing experience and accessibility for all. Powdr, founded in 1994 by entrepreneur John Cumming, has a history of acquiring and managing ski resorts, including the Alpine Meadows and Park City areas. The company expanded its portfolio by purchasing Copper Mountain in 2009 and acquiring Eldora in 2016 from Bill Killebrew, who had co-owned the resort for over 25 years. The sale of Eldora marks a significant shift for the resort, as it seeks new ownership while continuing to develop its facilities and services.
