The governor of Russia’s Belgorod Oblast, Vyacheslav Gladkov, has reported a significant drone attack allegedly carried out by Ukrainian forces. The incident resulted in a fire at an industrial warehouse and damage to residential properties, including broken windows and damaged roofs in the town of Stary Oskol. Gladkov stated that Russian air defense systems intercepted 29 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the region, with emergency services responding promptly to extinguish the fire at the warehouse. No casualties have been reported from the attacks, and emergency personnel are actively working at the affected sites. The governor's statements were shared via Telegram, highlighting the impact of the drone strikes on local infrastructure and civilian properties. In a broader context, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that a total of 75 UAVs were intercepted and destroyed overnight across various regions, including Belgorod, Lipetsk, Kursk, Bryansk, Voronezh, and Oryol Oblasts. The ministry detailed that 26 drones were shot down over Belgorod Oblast alone, while additional drones were reportedly intercepted over temporarily occupied Crimea and the Black Sea. This incident follows previous reports of a large-scale drone attack on the Russian city of Lipetsk, which caused significant damage to energy infrastructure. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with drone warfare becoming a prominent feature of the hostilities.
